Everyone says short video works. Nobody on the team wants to be on camera.

Filming, lighting, retakes and editing turn a 45-second clip into an afternoon, so it never happens.

No one to present

Founders are busy, engineers are camera shy, and a hired presenter doesn't know the product.

Editing eats the week

Cuts, captions, brand colours and an export for every platform, for one short video.

Topics run dry

After the obvious five videos, nobody knows what to make next.

Why clips

AI avatar videos that make people find you.

Clips aren't about a release. Each one teaches something your users want to know, so it keeps working long after the week it went up.

Found where people search

Short videos rank on YouTube and get picked up by search and AI assistants. A clip that answers a question in your niche brings people who have that question.

Teaching, not selling

Topics are about your field, the way a good DevRel team teaches on YouTube and Instagram. Your product shows up where it helps, never as an ad.

A face without a film crew

Your avatar presents every clip from one photo. Nobody has to record, light a room or learn to edit.

A real clip

Developer advocacy, explained in 51 seconds.

An example in our own niche, made the way yours are: a topic, a script, the avatar, captions and an edit in the brand's colours.

Transcript

Developer advocacy is a two-way street. First, you face outward. You help developers understand your product and actually succeed with it. That's docs, tutorials, demos, talks, and answering questions where developers hang out.

Then you face inward. You bring their questions and roadblocks back to the people building the product. The Developer Advocacy Handbook calls the role a spokesperson, mediator and translator. Translator is the key word. You turn a confused forum post into a clear bug report an engineer can fix.

And when the fix ships, you go back and show developers what changed and why. That closes the loop. Tools like DevRelay help here, drafting release posts and changelogs from your GitHub releases for your approval.

So in plain English, a developer advocate connects what developers need with the people building the product. Follow for more developer relations, explained simply.

How it works

From a topic to a clip you can post.

You pick what gets made. Our team makes it.

01

Set up your avatar once

Upload a photo of one person facing the camera (JPEG or PNG, up to 5 MB), pick a voice from the library and describe your niche: what the clips teach and who they're for. Your first topics arrive right after.

02

Five topics every week

Each week DevRelay suggests five topics from your company, your niche and your feature catalog, each with what it teaches and the words people search for. Ask for more at any time, or write your own. A topic never repeats one you already have.
03

Shape it before it's made

Edit the angle, tell us more (points to cover, examples, who it's for), add links, or write the script yourself. Then approve it. Approving counts toward the month's clips.
04

Made by our team within 24 hours

DevRelay's video team researches the topic, writes the script, makes your avatar video and edits it in your brand's style. Clips are up to 60 seconds, made for Shorts, TikTok and Reels. You get a Slack message and an email when it's ready.

05

Download it and post it

Watch the clip in DevRelay and download it, with a title and a caption with hashtags ready for YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Reels. You post it from your own accounts.

Your photo and the voice you pick are used only to make your clips, with HeyGen, the avatar service our team uses. Change your photo, voice or niche at any time; clips already in production keep what they were approved with.

FAQ

Questions about clips.

01Are the clips made by AI?

The presenter is an AI avatar made from the photo you upload, speaking with a voice you pick from a library. The research, script and edit are done by DevRelay's video team, with AI tools, and every clip is checked by a person before it reaches you.

02How many clips do I get?

10 a month on the DevRelay plan, counted when you approve a topic. You get five topic suggestions a week and can ask for more or write your own; only the ones you approve are made. Clips aren't on the free plan.

03How long does a clip take?

Within 24 hours of approving the topic. Clips are up to 60 seconds long.

04Does DevRelay post them?

No. You download the clip with its title and caption and post it on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels or wherever you like, from your own accounts.

05Can I write the script myself?

Yes. Before you approve a topic you can write the script, change the angle, add points and examples, or add links to your own pages for the team to draw on.

06Are clips about our releases?

No. Clips teach your niche. For a release, DevRelay drafts a launch video script, and on the DevRelay plan our team makes the launch video from it within 24 hours.

Teach your niche without filming a thing.

Upload a photo, pick a voice and describe your niche. Your first five topics arrive right away.
